We had guests last weekend; and combined with the sunny weather that meant some mighty far wandering around Hackney and the Lea Valley. On Saturday we took in Hackney City Farm; always fun to see the animals; then to Howard Griffin Gallery to see The Bestiary by Phlegm, a large scale illustrative installation created from painted wood, clay and plaster, which was brilliant; then off to Street Feast, where we tried melt-in-the mouth bread-crumbed pork cubes with tomato relish and Japanese steamed rolls filled with chicken chilli, yummy! On Sunday we spent hours walking around the Lea Valley, including a spell watching birds from the hides at the WaterWorks Centre & Middlesex Filter Beds and a walk along the river, and finally a sit down with a nice cold pint in the pub. Perfect.
