Weekly Sketch – Daffodils – 23/02/2014

Better sketching this week; I resolved my print design for daffodils after a frustrating week last week. Daffodils a popular flower for drawing and painting; a very familiar image; I wanted to get away from the traditional trumpet shaped profile or quarter profile. I also wanted to use a black background, inspired by Gert & Tobias Uwe’s woodcuts and collage; but that actually stopped me resolving the image to my satisfaction, so out that idea went. Here are my line drawings and the final design in pencil and felt-tip pen.
