Peter Blake at 80

Sir Peter Blake turned 80 on the 25 June 2012; and to celebrate this landmark birthday an exhibition of his art has just opened at Pallant House, and another at the Royal Albert Hall. I am very happy at the prospect of seeing his fantastic work at these two venues.

Pallant House Gallery 23 Jun-07 Oct: Peter Blake Pop Music – “A major exhibition to celebrate the 80th birthday of the godfather of Pop Art, Sir Peter Blake, bringing together important paintings, collages and prints from across his career.”

Royal Albert Hall 19 Jun-08 Jul: Peter Blake At 80– “The Royal Albert Hall and CCA Galleries honour the life and work of Sir Peter Blake with a celebratory exhibition to mark his 80th birthday.”

Internationally Peter Blake is probably most know for his design of the album sleeve for The Beatles – Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band.

For me I most admire his paintings, such as:

© Peter Blake / On The Balcony / Tate Collection

and of course his I love his prints, such as:

‘It isn’t manners for us to begin, you know’, said the Rose / Tate Collection
